Wavescaster/Chief Level Wind 7000CSM

Probably the first thing I need to say is that I primarily surf fish these days for some of the bigger species like shark and red drum. I wouldn't classify myself as the average happy go lucky angler nor am I easily satisfied in the equipment just like many other "extreme" surf fishermen. Two types of surf fishermen. One that goes on vacation and wets a line once or twice a year and one that lives it and breathes it. I'd classify myself as the latter. I'm nowhere near the best surf fisherman but I know what it takes before I even leave home based on wind, tide, waves, wind direction etc. I know before I leave home if I'm going to have to cast to the moon or drop bait at my feet because I know what certain winds do to the water where I fish. Having said that, I ordered an Omoto 7000 CSM from Renegade AFTER Paul told me it probably wasn't a reel for me. I also ordered a 500 yard spool of Invicta 50 pound braid to spool it with. Omoto Wavecaster 7000CSM I got my order pretty quick considering a holiday weekend fell in between my order date and receive date. Satisfied with the service. The reel came with a nicer reel boot then I've been buying which is an added bonus. Now down to the brass tacks of the reel. Nice looking reel. Feels smooth. Solid gear engagement. Before I put line on it I tore it completely down and totally degreased it. In my opinion Omoto could save a lot of money just by cutting back on the grease. It's some type of clear grease that took several alcohol baths to completely remove its residue. Whatever kind of grease that is was also all over the carbon drag washers. This reel out of the box is perfect for any catfishing and for the average surf fisherman.
