| The Details
Grand Cay is a small cay adjacent to Walker’s
Cay, in the Abaco islands chain of the Bahamas. Since the closure of
Walker’s Cay marina, Grand has become the center for sport fishing the
productive area of the northern Bahamas. Small and rustic, most of the
residents make a living by fishing the pristine waters surrounding the cay
and a visitor can obtain some of the biggest and best lobsters and crab
claws from local fishermen. The residents are friendly and accommodating,
going out of their way to make visitors feel welcomed
BY REQUEST, WE ARE DIVIDING
THIS TRIP INTO TWO GROUPS. FIRST GROUP IS 'GUYS ONLY' AND THE SECOND GROUP
IS 'LADIES ONLY'. THIS IS THE 'LADIES ONLY GROUP'
Arrival
We will arrive at Walker’s via charter air
(twin engine US licensed six passenger plane) from either Stuart airport
(Martin County) or North County airport in Palm Beach. Once the group clears
customs at Walker’s, they will be transferred to Grand via boat (note there
will be two air groups).
First Night
You will be assigned a room (double
occupancy) and we will meet after check-in for introductions and updates
from our Bahamian hosts and captain. We will split into three groups of four
anglers (we will have a third boat waiting for us at Walker’s) and each
captain will coordinate the type of fishing and times. Dinner will follow.
Day 1 -3
We are here to fish and have a great time. We
will leave it up to each group to decide what type of fishing they want to
do on any particular day. We have power assisted reels for deep dropping,
inshore tackle for fishing the banks, and of course bluewater tackle for
serious offshore fishing. If you want to try fly-fishing, feel free to bring
your own tackle. Distances are relatively close and it is possible to
experience multiple styles of fishing within the same day and be back in
time for relaxation and drinks before dinner. You are also free to change
group or if you like, just stay and relax. Meals Your package includes
breakfast, a box lunch and dinner. The menu is varied and rich in seafood.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance.
You are welcome to bring liquor for consumption in moderation.
Returning Home
The group will return on Monday April 23 with
the two charter boats, arriving in the US in the afternoon.
WEATHER
Simple. If the weather is bad, at the
captains’ discretion, we will not go. Check with us before flying in from
out of town for the latest forecast. Out of Town Anglers: Please coordinate
arrival and departure times. We can also suggest hotels nearby and arrange
for transportation.
These are fun trips and they offer an
opportunity to 'get away' and enjoy your time with new and old friends. It
is a truly enjoyable experience.
